The homeowner, who has lived in Canada for many years, decided to return to Taiwan for retirement after considering that her children were financially independent. In terms of the design style requirements of the elegant female homeowner, in addition to hoping that the new home will have a mixed of modern French elements, the design team also considered that the homeowner is approaching senior age, so the interior design needs are reserved for the future. Elderly devices that may be needed allows homeowners to enjoy their retirement life with peace of mind.

This case is in a 10-years-old apartment with lighting on three sides. It has plenty of natural light and uses translucent curtains and wooden shutters to filter the light. The floor is made of low-key and luxurious stone tiles. When unlight shines on the ground through wooden blinds, the soft lines create a romantic atmosphere in the light and shadow. The gentle beige color tone combined with simple moulding reflects the hostess's imagination of the space. It is paired with small proportion of gloss metal lamps and handles to enrich the space elements. The living room and kitchen form a straight open space, and dark blue cabinets are used in the penetrating space to define different areas. In addition, it is different from the ordinary flat ceiling. In order to match the airy pearly chandelier, a petal-shaped ceiling is designed. The sleek shape echoes the curved dining cabinet, adding detail to the space. The dining room and the kitchen island are neatly juxtaposed, and extend continuously to the living room window in a long shape, creating an enlarged visual experience. Since the door is close to the TV wall area, in order to increase the size of the TV wall, the door was deliberately covered with wood. The design uses the same elegant vocabulary as the TV wall to increase the openness of the living room.

The owner has a well-planned retirement life. She loves tidiness and hospitality. In addition to needing more storage, she also hopes to maintain an open and elegant space so that her friends can stay more comfortably. In terms of layout planning, the design team planned a 2+1 layout: a master bedroom, a guest room for the children who visit from Canada, a dressing room, and two bathrooms. The overall room type is characterized by an L-shaped large area of lighting, but rooms are planned on the left and right sides of the corridor. Heading towards the end of the corridor, it seems to appear darker. For the elderly, efficient light is very important, so the design team designed linear LED light at the end of corridor, which can be used not only as corridor lighting but also as a night light.

Coming to the private area of the master bedroom, it not only continues the lines and warm tones of the public space, but also adds special mineral paints with a tactile feel to add a soft atmosphere to the sleeping space. Pushing open the French door is the main bathroom space where the homeowner can relax. This space is equipped with a shower folding chair and armrests, making it more comfortable and safe to use.

Different from the earth-toned tiles in the master bath, the guest bath adopts classic black and white color matching with customized herringbone floor tiles, which adds a sense of ritual without losing a lively tone. The dressing room enjoys the highest ceiling height in the whole room. The open wardrobe system not only allows the female owner to store the most clothes, but also maintains the original natural lighting. The overall design provides the homeowner with a safe, comfortable and elegant home where friends can gather.
